Welcome to the Worthington Field Studies Inc. Home Page.  This site is designed to meet the needs of parents and students participating in a WFSI trip and a way to keep all of our 2000+ alumni up to date on what is happening with the organization.

WFSI is a non-profit 501 3(c) organization that takes students from the Worthington and Westerville school districts to the U.S. Virgin Islands over spring break and to the Rocky Mountains over summer break.  Participants on each trip have unique opportunities to learn science concepts unattainable inside the traditional science classroom.

Steve Griffith was a 1983 graduate of Worthington High School. He ran cross country under the guidance of coaches Gary Smith and Wayne Harvey. He was proud to have participated with the Worthington Field Studies summer trip. In fact, he was so impressed with his experience with Field Studies that he encouraged his brother Tom, a 1990 Worthington graduate, to participate as well.

Steve worked summers and breaks during college for the Worthington Parks and Recreation Department. After Steve graduated from high school in 1983, he went on to study Graphic Design at Bowling Green State University where he met his fiancée Susan (Walters) Hisch. Steve became employed by Good Display in Toledo, Ohio prior to earning his college degree.

Sadly, Steve was killed in a car accident on February 19, 1988. This year marks the 20 year anniversary of his death.

In honor of his memory, his family would like to accept contributions for a scholarship fund through Worthington Field Studies. Any money collected will go directly toward the cost of the trip. General information, guidelines and scholarship applications are available at www.wfsinc.org. Donations can be mailed directly to Brian Luthy, Thomas Worthington High School, 300 West Dublin-Granville Road, Worthington, Ohio 43085. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Please indicate on your check that your donation is in memory of Steve Griffith. A letter will be sent to the family with a list of donors, and those names will also be published in the Field Studies Newsletter.
